The very large gas carrier market is seeing another round of optimism-fuelled newbuilding orders even though the sector is oversupplied now, the 18th Annual Chinese LPG Conference was told by IHS Fairplay. Encouraged by the prospect of more US LPG flowing to Asia via the expanded Panama Canal from 2015 and the possibility that Chinese propane dehydrogenation plants may necessitate higher LPG imports, companies such as Frontline 2012 and Dorian Hellas have jumped into the fray.
