An intermodal rail hub to service Sydney's container terminal at Port Botany is now out to tender, with the Australian federal government last week calling for expressions of interest. The Moorebank Intermodal Company is scheduled to start construction in 2015 and commence operations in 2017. It is ready to go, with 220ha of former defence land set aside. Now it needs a buyer with the capital to construct and operate the terminal, estimated to cost A$800M($778M).
