While imports struggle to help prop up rates in the trans-Pacific trade, exports, specifically reefer boxes out of the Port of Savannah, are on the rise The port, which handles 38% of US poultry exports, announced on 4 June that it handled 20M pounds (9,000 tonnes) of reefer exports through one of its cold storage facilities during its first five weeks of its operation. The $30M facility, operated by Nordic Cold Storage, can handle more than 4,500 tonnes/ week. Nordic plans to expand the facility by the end of the year.
