Algeciras isn't limited to container and Strait of Gibraltar ro-ro and passenger traffic. Last year the port handled 22.69M tonnes of liquid bulk -1.5% less than in 2011- of which 15.55M tonnes was incoming and 7.14M tonnes outgoing. The port is the site of a CEPSA refinery and petrochemicals complex and oil product storage and transport specialist CLH also has a terminal there. It is a leading bunkering port, along with Ceuta and Gibraltar, and an oil trading logistics hub. Bunkering volumes rose nearly 11% last year to 2.9M tonnes.
