Lianyungang Port's largest ore terminal in terms of handling capacity has been linked to China's national railway network, enabling ore shipments to be transported by train deeper into the country's inland regions. In late April, a 52-wagon cargo train loaded with iron ore left the Xinsugang Ore Terminal at Lianyungang Port, marking the launch of a long-expected link between the terminal and a major Chinese rail line. The new rail link will help deliver iron ore to more steel mills located along the Longhai rail line, according to a contact at the port. The Longhai railroad starts in Lianyungang and reaches out to Lanzhou in western China across the middle of the country.
