Poland's historic Gdansk Shipyard is near bankruptcy, its Ukrainian majority owner has reportedly warned. Sergei Taruta, head of Ukraine steel producer ISD, which has 75% control of the yard, is said to have appealed to Warsaw to bail out the yard, which he said urgently needs PLN180M ($58.2M). Taruta told reporters-he was ready to provide PLN80M if the government, which holds a 25% minority stake in the yard, provided PLN100M. His warning comes after a treasury warning of no more aid for the yard.
