Although Chinese yard orders have increased, nearly all of them are being handled by its biggest such facilities, leaving small and mid-sized yards to struggle. Figures released by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry revealed that newbuilding contracts in the first eight months of 2013 have increased. However, 96.5% of the new orders were concentrated in less than 3% of the country's total number of yards.
