"Through improved governance and performance, we will make sure Africa's Maritime industry becomes more competitive," Tsietsi Mokgele, CEO of South Africa Maritime Safety Administration (SAMSA) told Fairplay on his reappointment as chairman of the Africa Maritime Administrators Association (AMAA) this week. Speaking at the AMAA's second meeting, held in Johannesburg, he added: "Africans have decided to take their position within the maritime sector more seriously but the key is to have skilled and well trained women and youth."
