While the Norwegian Sale Form has been criticised for being Euro-centric, mainly because London is the default seat of arbitration, Maritime Singapore has used the Singapore Ship Sale Form to inject some Asia-centricity into its community. Launched in January 2011, the Singapore form was touted as a ship sale document catering to Asian shipowners' needs. The form names Singapore as the default seat of arbitration, which fuelled talk of rivalry between the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration and the London Maritime Arbitrators Association. Such talk has been downplayed by the SCMA, which insists it is just offering an alternative to Asian shipowners who baulk at a 12-hour flight to London.
