Slovenia has just 46km of coastline. Yet, despite the state's lowly maritime profile, the only port, Koper, has been holding its own against competitors in the Adriatic Sea. But the time has come for the largest of its handful of shipping companies to be given full independence. Last month two state-owned agencies said they were putting up for sale their combined 25% stake in Splosna Plovba. In a joint statement to Fairplay, Slovenska odskodnin-ska druzba and Kapitalska druzba said they had decided to "test the market with a view to obtaining potentially higher bids". Their initial asking price is just under €60M ($77M).
