Costa Crociere would like to clarify some of the information published by IHS Fairplay magazine (26 January p5), regarding the Costa Concordia accident. Let me remind you that Costa Crociere is fully and openly co-operating with the Italian prosecutor and the authorities who are investigating the Costa Concordia accident. It should also be noted that the prosecutor in charge seized the ship with all equipment and instrumentation on board including the VDR (Voice Data Recorder) of the ship. So we have no access to any data and recordings. As clarified by [Costa Crociere CEO Pier Luigi] Foschi during his hearing at the Italian parliament, from internal investigation we undertook (not based on the VDR data), it seems that: there may have been significant human error on the part of the ship's captain, Francesco Schettino, which led to this terrible tragedy.
