A critical task on all ships is treating wastewater, which can take the form of blackwater or sewage and greywater from galleys, sinks and showers. Frontline water treatment method is also provided by oily water separator (OWS) systems in a vessel's bilge tanks.rnLooking first at wastewater systems, ACO Marine Systems has developed the Clarimar sewage treatment and Maripur membrane bio-reactor products, which are both type-approved to MEPC 159(55) and make use of an activated sludge system.
