Max Strotmann, a member of the cabinet of transport commissioner Siim Kallas, told Fairplay he considered the shortsea ro-ro sector should treat the 0.1% sulphur limit as a given and not hope to see its application delayed in certain cases. He agreed it did present the sector with a "big challenge" but argued that, as part of an IMO convention, it was "something that had been inherited, which is out there and cannot be undone... We can't change this", he said. "It's like the cost of fuel."
