The UK P&l Club has produced helpful guidance on the new inspection regime on Port State Control (PSC) that came into force in January. The six-page pamphlet Paris MoU New Inspection Regime - Aide-Memoire is aimed at masters and shipowners and explains the new reporting obligations for every ship arriving in and leaving ports within the Paris Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The club lists the principal tasks to be undertaken prior to vessel entry to the Paris MoU region. These include: determining the ship's risk profile and company performance, both using the Paris MoU online calculator, noting when the vessel was last inspected, ascertaining if the vessel is eligible for inspection and, if so, which type of inspection and ensuring sufficient time in the ship's operating schedule to enable this.
