Sections of the shipping industry eagerly awaiting the first output from a long list of major Australian commodity projects will probably have to revise their expectations following the recent sequence of natural disasters that have afflicted the island continent. The impact last week of category-5 cyclone Yasi has still to be fully assessed, but its effects have been felt far beyond the Queensland coastal towns that it devasted.
