Availability of debt capital is on the increase after two years of turmoil and restructuring in the ship finance markets - that was the picture emerging from discussions between bank executives and financial directors of shipping companies at last week's Marine Money forum in Hamburg. However, they cautioned that banks' return to lending remains tentative in many cases, as the backlog of over-valued newbuilding projects from the boom years takes time to clear.
