An academic report sponsored by International Paint has found that the company's fluoropolymer foul release (FFR) paints "can reduce greenhouse gas and other emissions by an average of 9%", the company said in a statement. The report was published last month by Energy and Environmental Research Associates (EERA), which is run by James Corbett, professor of marine policy at Delaware University, who told Fairplay that he had treated the data supplied to him "sceptically" to check whether any benefit it showed might have "masked changes in operation" rather than paint choice.
