Road transport remains the mainstay for cargo movement in Vietnam, and the country is "some way" from building an extensive rail freight network, according to Agility, a major player in the growth of logistics services in Vietnam. However, the government in Hanoi is taking the development of inland transport networks seriously, and rail freight has "potential to move ahead" once the infrastructure is in place, explained Mike Gildea, Agility CEO for Southeast Asia.
