Michael Parker, chairman of CMA CGM (UK) Holdings, has replaced Jan Kopernicki as president of the Chamber of Shipping in the UK. Parker identified four priorities for his term: the business climate, employment, maritime security and the environment. Describing British shipping as a "growth industry" supporting 200,000 British jobs, he lamented the shortfall of skilled candidates and pledged to work with seafarer unions retain Britain's SMarT budget - set at ￡12M ($19.2M) for the 2011-12 financial year.
