Offshore wind energy projects in northern Europe are expected to boost demand for a wide array of logistics services over the coming decades. Enquiries by Fairplay among large German power companies and turbine manufacturers show that the sector is primarily looking for specialist jack-up vessel managers, heavy-lift operators and stevedoring services. They are not prepared, however, to outsource their logistics planning and supply-chain management.
