Representatives of Kraft Foods Europe and automotive supplier Tenneco have called upon shipping companies and freight forwarders to come forward with firm propos-als for a road-to-sea modal shift. Speaking at the 8th Shortsea Dialogue forum held at Bremen's chamber of commerce last week, Jurgen Otersen, Kraft Foods' manager of logistics opera-tions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, said the company is studying the conversion of lorry trailer cargoes into inter-modal shortsea containers within its current European transport logistics tender.
