Last week it was Greece or Portugal, next week it will be Italy or Spain. Confidence in the eurozone economies appears flaky, but what has this to do with shipping? Everything and nothing. Shipowners have proved themselves capable of using tax havens when it suits them and pulling vessels back to the home flag when the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The old ties to heritage have long been eroded.
