Peter Murray, who has been a senior partner at law firm Ince & Co since 2000, arrived in Shanghai in 1993, the same yeai China's Maritime Code was introduced. Murray and his firm were among those involved in the discussions to form it -what was good to put in it, what not. With the law came maritimejudges, in maritime courts, each with their own dedicated buildings. Other heavyweights in the region, such as Japan, South Korea and India, don't even have dedicated maritimejudges. Even London hasjust one maritime court, compared with China's 48, Murray pointed out. "This reflects the number of cases here."
