Rickmers Group, the Hamburg container and heavy-lift vessel owner, has hired a former top executive from the energy and media sectors as part of its drive to attract new professional investors. Belgian Ignace van Meenen, who has previously served as director of finance for coal mining group RAG and chief financial officer for television group RTL, joined the shipping company as CFO last month. The appointment has only just been made public. "To assume an active role on the market, it is essential that we adapt our processes since new sources of funding require efficient financial and corporate governance," van Meenen said.
