Ukraine is keen to attract private investors in its state-owned shipping companies, a year after it did the same with its ports. Struggling Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) is among them. It is one of Ukraine's, and Europe's, largest shipping concerns, employing 3,500 people. In early November it was granted a $ 10.8M loan by the state export-import bank, Ukreximbank, to refinance its accumulated debt.
