摘要

Mike Corrigan (see Decision-maker, Fairplay 8 December) has accepted the task of turning round loss-making state-owned operator BC Ferries. The COO is to replace president and CEO David Hahn from 1 January for a five-year term that will need to achieve considerable cost savings. That reduction begins with his own overall compensation package, which will be just 60% of Hahn's remuneration. The long-term bonus programme for senior executives has been axed in return for Corrigan and three colleagues receiving a one-off C$200,000 payment. These measures will save BC Ferries about C$700,000 ($685,000)/year, the board said. Corrigan's current position, COO, is to be eliminated, saving a further C$600,000/year.
