Notwithstanding lower US ethylene production costs, the Middle East would remain the dominant ethylene exporter to Southeast Asia and Europe in this decade.CMAI's global business director (olefins) Steve Zinger told Fairplay: "The Middle East still has an advantage over US ethane for ethylene exports. US ethane prices are based on local natural gas prices of S4-5/M btu, because of the logistics of extracting shale gas. Middle East ethane prices are based on local natural gas prices of$O.75-$2/Mbtu.
