India's attempt to boost vehicle exports (seep17) will require significant logistics upgrading. Hyundai hit snags with its Chennai manufacturing project, exporting small cars to Europe. "Problems with infrastructure and local labour disputes are forcing Hyundai India to shift some production to Europe,"rnIHS Global Insight (IGI) said. Meanwhile, shipping and vehicle majors and Indian ports are preparing for the challenge.rnNYK plans expanded logistics capabilities, company sources told Fairplay. Mundra and Mumbai ports are active in car exports and Chennai and Ennore are poised to become major gateways.
