French oil major Total plans to invest $20Bn in Nigeria's oil and gas sector, including offshore deepwater exploration, over the next five years. The plan was put forward during a meeting between Total's exploration chief, Yves Louis Darricarrere, and Nigeria's acting president Goodluck Jonathan. Darricarrere said Total would "take advantage of the relative peace in the region to increase its investments" in the oil and gas sector.
