The scale of savings in fuel costs made possible by the use of optimum ship routeing services was demonstrated by the figures released by Applied Weather Technology in announcing that Odfjell had placed a fleet-wide order for its onboard BonVoyage software and shore-based routeing services.rnIn the first 90 days of implementing AWT's services onboardrn65 of its 90-strong fleet, a reduction of approximately 1,000 tonnes of fuel oil was claimed, equating to a saving of $475,000 and a reduction in carbon emissions of 3,000 tonnes. Cost savings for fuel are expected to increase further once the services are available to the entire fleet.
