Germany's Siemens Energy, one of the leading manufacturers in the wind power industry, last month announced an order including 98 wind turbines for Oklahoma Gas & Electric in the US. Siemens is pushing hard into the North American market, having recently signed a framework agreement with Samsung C&T Corp for the supply of wind turbines with a combined capacity of 600MW, sufficient to supply 240,000 Canadian households with ecofriendly electricity. The turbines are destined for various projects in Ontario. Siemens has also announced that it intends to invest in setting up a new rotor blade manufacturing facility in Canada, creating up to 300 jobs.
