Maersk Line's voluntary switch to low-sulphur fuel in its box ships while at berth in Hong Kong was described by its chief operating officer Morten Engelstoft as a demonstration that "it is a way to quickly reduce sulphur emissions without any technical difficulties". The price of this simplicity is estimated at $1M annually, covering around 850 port calls in Hong Kong.
