Hit by the increase of port dues including hikes of 60-400% for ship calls, Israel's agents, owners and Chamber of Shipping fear the restructure of Israel's tariff system could hamper trade development, rather than attract new business. It was implemented by government decree on 1 October without industry consultation.rnIsrael's shipping industry broadly agreed the tariff system needed to be updated, but it had not anticipated such dramatic tariff changes, described as Israel's most important regulation shift in 15 years.
