Brazil's international container community is struggling to recover from the pre-Christmas Itajai-Acu River flood that killed more than 120 people and shut Itajai, the country's number two box port. Fairplay has been told the port won't be "back to normal for another three to four months at least." In the meantime, the port is operating a restricted draught of 7.1 m, compared with normal, minimum 10m.Two of the port's three berths were heavily damaged in the storm and it faces severe operating restrictions as a result.
