The latest export data released in Moscow shows that exports of Russian crude through Transneft's system to non-CIS countries dropped 5.1% last month, from January 2008. The ministry of industry and energy did not release a volume figure. But the trend suggested that tanker loadings of crude in the Baltic, especially at Primorsk, Transneft's biggest outlet, are dropping despite the falling profitability of domestic crude oil refining and the rising profitability of crude oil exports. A Primorsk port source said that 6.1 M tonnes of crude were loaded and shipped in January. This compares with 6.6M tonnes in January 2008, and 7.3M tonnes in December 2008.
