South Korean shipbuilding officials hailed a move by steelmaker Dongkuk to lower its price for thick steel plates by 240,000won ($152) per tonne to $584 per tonne. Builders pointed out that the price could lead to a similar price adjustment by Posco, an analyst close to the builders told Fairplay.The new level puts Dongkuk's steel price on a par with the price demanded by Posco, Korea's largest steel producer.
