In 2008, America's net crude imports dropped 2.5%, to 9.7M bpd, while product imports plunged 38%,to l.3M bpd.rnAccording to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the US recession will bring crude imports down another 8% this year, to 8.95M bpd, while prod-rnucts will fall another 17%, to 1.18M bpd. Not only is demand flagging, but America's domestic crude production should boast its first rise since 1991, further paring import potential.
