Sailing speeds in the Asia/ Europe container trade should be further reduced to save on costs and greenhouse gas emissions, according to CMA CGM. The world's third-largest container ship operator intends to introduce 'super eco speed' of only 12-14kt on certain legs of its flagship French Asia Line 1 (FAL1) service, presently operated with 10 vessels of up to 11,400 teu.
