摘要

The salvage master used to take overall control of a salvage operation. Today, more parties than ever are involved in salvage - making good communications vital. Kari Reinikainen reports.rnCapt Nicholas Sloane, regional director for Svitzer Salvage, Africa, says things are indeed changing. "From a salvage response viewpoint you can only have one person in control of an operation. He has to have sufficient experience to be able to analyse the situation very quickly and make risk assessments on the options open to him - and then carry out a 'triage' approach to the situation. In the good old days, that person was the salvage master who took control by bringing all decision-making to a central point, but that's no longer the case," he told Fairplay.
