The breakthrough in labour talks with Las Palmas Port Authority came in June when a five-year agreement saved the livelihoods of 179 stevedores.rnEnding months of intermittent strike action, local stevedore company Sestiba and Las Palmas Port Authority chairman Javier Sanchez-Simon signed a historic deal in which stevedores accepted an average 20% cut in wages to save their jobs.
