Zim Integrated Shipping Services of Israel hastaken delivery of its first post-Panamax container ship. The &,400teu Zim Los Angeles is the initial ship ina series of four being builtat Hyundai Samho Hlforthe owner. In addition to its 8,400teu vessels, Zim also has eight 10,000teu ships on order, the first of which,Zim Djibouti,is due to be delivered in two weeks time.Zim Los Angeles is due to take up service in the joint Zim/Grand Alliance PNXservice from East Asia to the USWC. It has a length overall of 334m, beam of 42.8m and draught of 15m and is equipped with 700 reefer sockets.Zim Los Angeles is classed by Lloyd's Register and is fitted with a MAN B&W 12K98MC main engine providing a service speed of 25.6kt.
