Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone (KPIZ) is a huge infrastructure project currently under construction in the UAE as a replacement facility for Mina Zayed, located in downtown Abu Dhabi. After the initial phase of KPIZ becomes operational in 2012, Mina Zayed will be redeveloped. KPIZ is being constructed in five phases that run until the full completion date of around 2028. Estimates place the total cost of the project at around $24Bn and when completed it will be Abu Dhabi's principal seaport, with capacity of 22M teu and 35M tonnes of conventional bulk and breakbulk cargo.
