In a modern industrial environment, one would expect a company finishing a project three years late to be the subject of censure.rnAccording to the Suez Canal Authority's original timetable, the main navigation channel was due to be dredged to 66ft (20m) by 2006 and to 72ft by 2010. The SCA's head of dredging will now be happy if the 66ft programme is completed by the end of this year (see p24).rnNevertheless, the SCA does not seem too bothered by the delay. During the shipping boom of 2007-08, the dredging programme took second place to maximising transit revenue.
