The great gains made by Cosco Group in 2008 seem to have evaporated in 2009. To prove the point, a fortnight ago yet more vessels were cancelled. This time it was two pure car and truck carriers ordered by a subsidiary from its own Zhoushan yard.rnThe state-owned group has cancelled or delayed dozens of vessels in its orderbook this year and lines have been reorganised. This is all supposed to be part of a plan, the continued timely response to the long-anticipated downturn. "By January 2008 we cancelled 126 bulkers from our programmes, even though we were making billions of renminbi a month," president and CEO Capt Wei Jiafu told Fairplay.
