How many times should you try to contact a senior ship registrar before you are permitted to give up and take your fleet somewhere else? Five times? Ten times? That's the question Fairplay has been asking after repeatedly attempting to contact the Greek registry during a recent visit to Piraeus.rnOther registries, including several that are falling over themselves to attract Greek owners to their books, have learned that marketing is a constant requirement. It requires regular attendance at shipowners' gatherings, taking every opportunity to address conferences, and a lot of talking. It also requires administrators to be quick to answer the phone, and to be courteous, informative and eager to bring the owner into contact with the right person within the registry when they do.
