Not all soyabeans are alike in the eyes of consumers. Kanematsu, a Japanese agricultural products trading company and Japan's largest importer of soyabeans, announced plans to expand its Canadian supplies of non-geneti-cally modified (GMO) soyabeans, according to Bloomberg. It plans to sign contracts for non-GMO soyabean growers in Canada that will lift export supplies from 120,000 tonnes this year to 200,000 by 2012. The company says demand comes mainly from Japan, but Taiwan, South Korea and Europe are strong markets.
