The manning dispute between Viking Line and the Finnish Seamen's Union, which has been simmering for years, might finally be concluded this year. The London Court of Appeal will decide whether collective action to prevent reflagging of Viking's ferry Rosella to reduce its wage bill is a justified restriction on EU principles of'free movement'in sea transport. In 2003, the Finnish shipping line decided to restore the profitability of its loss-making Tallinn-Helsinki ferry Rosella by reflagging it from Finland to Estonia.
