In the broader US public markets, four of the first five IPOs this year were SPACs - Special Purpose Acquisition Companies, which are otherwise known as 'blank cheque'companies. In a SPAC, shareholder capital is placed in trust and principals must consummate a transaction with that funding by a predetermined deadline. A deal only goes forward with shareholder approval.
