In hindsight, Italy's TTT Lines was clearly asking for trouble when it conceived its latest marketing campaign (pictured above) with the slogan: 'Vesuvius and Etna... never so close!' "We have tried to pay tribute to the volcanic beauties of the two cities [Naples and Catania] that our ferry line connects every day,"its marketing department told the Captain. "The advertisement also aims to raise the morale of Neapolitans," he said. The people of Naples have been downcast since December by the sight and smell of tons of uncollected garbage lying around the city.
