Independent fuel suppliers are here to stay and will continue to play a prominent role, despite challenging economic conditions, says Mike Bandy, chairman & CEO of prominent independent player Chemoil. In a keynote speech at the SingaporernInternational Bunkering Conference 2008 (SIBCON 2008) on 15 October, Bandy conceded that the "capital brawn" of the majors will help them survive the turbulent times, but added that "long-term strategic growth and dominance of the marine fuels market may prove to be far from elusive."
